SALT & SILK

This is the history of an unusual Aubrey family, and the first of a trilogy.

It starts with Morgan Aubrey.

Disinherited by his angry father, he fled Wales, went to London, and made his fortune as a Salter.

In 1594, he bought Clehonger and other estates in Herefordshire, and married his son into an old, distinguished gentry family.

For generations, they were known as the Aubreys of Clehonger.

In this and its sequels, we discover what his descendants did with their inheritance.

We know all this even though Morgan and the characters tell us what they themselves thought and felt about what happened in the course of their lives.

It is based on existing records.

An index and trees allow Morgan’s descendants to trace their ancestry
